Current Trends in Research on the Application of Ethical Rules in Digital Journalism A Critical Analytical Perspective

Abstract

The Internet removed the barriers of time and space in human interactions, and helped obtain information and news easily and at a relatively low cost. However, there is an enormous challenge lies in the ethical and professional problems that resulted from that. The digital environment has created a number of ethical dilemmas in addition to those facing traditional journalism. This research is a secondary analysis, that analyzes recent studies that dealt with the application of ethical rules for digital journalism in the period from 2015-2020 in various contexts; this study presented a future perspective for Arab studies in this field. The study addressed the ethical rules of artificial intelligence, machine journalism, citizen journalism, and data journalism. as well as recent studies on teaching ethical rules for digital journalism in universities and the problems facing the application of ethical rules in reality. The most important of which are plagiarism and manipulation of pictures and videos.
