The extent to which journalists accept the use of drones in the field of journalism and its impact on their future career. An exploratory study within the framework of the technology acceptance model

Abstract

The use of drones in journalism has become very popular in the world. The use of drones in journalism is surrounded by their advantages and disadvantages. Hence, it was an attempt to gain a depth of understanding of the use of drones in the press, so the problem of the current study crystallizes in exploring the visions of journalists in Egypt for the future of the use of drones in the field of journalism, and their attitudes towards that technology, and considering this, this study aims to identify the extent to which the acceptance of drones is acceptable. And the conviction of journalists in Egypt to employ and use drones in journalistic work, by applying the TAM technology acceptance model. They included (journalists’ editors and photojournalists), using the questionnaire tool. The study concluded that the respondents were aware that the drone has the most important use in the field of journalism, which is conducting dialogue with the public in hard-to-reach places during disasters and crises. There has also been an increase in journalists' concern about the increasing reliance on drones in the field of journalism because they believe that photos and videos produced by drones are not always correct.
 
The journalists emphasized that one of the most important advantages of the drone is the low cost of journalists’ use of drones in their journalistic work and the importance of working to maximize their benefits in the field of journalism and benefiting from them in doubling the production of content and facilitating the work of journalists and the immediate in very high quality, saving time and effort and protecting them from any risks during perform their work.
