Recent Trends in Social Media Research and Their Role In Achieving Sustainable Development- Second Level Analysis

Abstract

The analytical presentation of the recent trends of the role of social media in achieving sustainable development aimed to monitor scientific research (PhD theses and scientific research published in refereed periodicals), Arab and foreign, related to research on the role of social media in achieving sustainable development, during the period from 2015 to 2021, and to reveal problems Or the research issues that were addressed by the studies that are subject to analysis and comparison between different schools with regard to research fields, and theoretical and methodological frameworks for researching the role of social networking sites in achieving sustainable development. The current analytical presentation belongs to the descriptive studies, which relied on the survey method in a second-level data analysis method to research the role of social networking sites in achieving sustainable development, and published in foreign and Arab refereed periodicals, as well as Arab and foreign doctoral theses from 2015 to 2021. In addition to both quantitative and qualitative analysis, the analytical presentation community is represented in studies written in Arabic and in English that dealt with the areas of using social networking sites in achieving the goals of sustainable development and its three dimensions: social, economic, and environmental, from 2015 to 2021. The study resulted in the school’s superiority Asian studies in addressing the role of social networking sites in achieving sustainable development in relation to its various dimensions, and foreign studies had the largest share in their use of several new and non-traditional theories in the field of media and the Asian School was the first to use new theoretical frameworks in terms of number. Most of the studies, whether Arab or foreign, about the axis of social networking sites and sustainable development in the field of education, have proven the effectiveness of social media in the educational process, whether at the level of students or teachers
