Abstract

The study sought to explore and analyze the treatment of Egyptian and American electronic newspapers on the topics of climate change, through an analytical study in the light of the COP 27 climate conference, and clarify the dimensions of the theory of social responsibility in the press treatment, and monitor the topics related to climate change, and its causes and impact on other sectors, through an analytical study of a sample of Egyptian and American electronic newspapers.
This study is descriptive using the survey methodology, relied on the Content Analysis tool, and employed the theory of Social Responsibility, and the study sample was represented in "Al-Ahram Gate", "the seventh day Gate", the newspaper "USA Today", and the newspaper "New York Times" in the period from 1/10/2022 until 31 / 12 /2022.
The study found a variety of treatment goals in the topics related to climate change during the COP27 climate conference, where "presenting a reality Report" was first ranked, while "showing positives" was second-ranked, and "explaining the risks of climate change" was third-ranked.
The results of the analysis identified a range of causes of climate change, including "increased consumption of fossil energy (coal - oil-gas)","gases from waste incineration”, “carbon emissions", and "pesticides and chemical fertilizers".
The results of the study showed a set of proposed solutions to address climate changes in the journalistic treatment of the study papers, including "switching to clean alternative energy”, “sustainable development and the green economy", and “abandoning coal and fossil fuels".
