The Reality of Arabic Journalism in the Light of Artificial Intelligence Technologies- An Analytical Field Study

Abstract

The current study aims to understand the reality of Arab journalism in the era of artificial intelligence technologies. "Content Analysis" and the tool for analyzing vast content through artificial intelligence programs (Big Data) were employed, along with the "Survey Tool," based on the Unified Theory of Technology Acceptance. The study falls within descriptive research, utilizing a survey method.
The methodology was applied to conduct a comprehensive survey of the study sample from Arab news websites, including Al-Dustour (Jordan), Al-Sharq Al-Qatariya (Qatar), and Al-Qahira 24 (Egypt). The total number of topics amounted to 156,318, aiming to identify the subjects published by artificial intelligence compared to human contributors and to determine the main fields where artificial intelligence technologies are applied.
The study revealed several results, including:
News published by human contributors ranked first.
Topics published by artificial intelligence indicated that economic news was the most prevalent.
51.1% of the study sample moderately used artificial intelligence journalism.
The study demonstrated the importance of applying artificial intelligence journalism techniques, with 33.3% considering it moderately important and 28.9% considering it highly important.
62.2% of the study sample received training in artificial intelligence journalism techniques, albeit through various forms of delivery.
