Abstract

The study aims to identify the extent to which the Egyptian public seeks information via news websites about the June 2025 Iran-Israel war and their attitudes toward it. By identifying the rate of respondents’ following of news of the Israeli-Iranian war on news websites, identifying the most news websites through which the study sample follows the Israeli-Iranian war in June 2025, and identifying the indicators that measure the incentives for the study sample’s seeking of information provided through news websites about the Israeli-Iranian war, and knowing the respondents’ tendencies towards news websites’ treatment of the Israeli-Iranian war, the study belongs to descriptive studies using the media survey method in light of the information seeking theory. The study relied on 400 individuals from the Egyptian public and was applied in the period from July 15, 2025, to August 20, 2025. Among the most important results of the study: the respondents’ interest in following the topics of the Israeli-Iranian war on news websites. Also, one of the most important reasons for the respondents’ trust in the sources through which they follow topics of the Israeli-Iranian war on news websites is that they “provide evidence and proof of the information they present.” Utilitarian motives came first over ritual motives, and the strategy of control and monitoring topped the strategies of seeking information. “Providing an objective treatment of the Israeli-Iranian war” also topped the trends in Researchers' towards news websites' treatment of the Israeli-Iranian war.
