Youth uses of Bahrain Tarab Radio And gratifications achieved from them

Abstract

This study examines using radio in the Kingdom of Bahrain as a tool for cultural and artistic promotion and the benefits achieved from this use, considering that the radio station is one of the Kingdom's tools in spreading culture in particular, with what formulate minds on enhancing cultural diversity, as this study seeks to explore the use of the radio station by youth in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and to determine the motives for that use in addition to the gratifications.
The study depends on the assumptions of the Uses and Gratifications theory which confirms the public's positivity in using media content, as they choose the media contents and programs, they prefer to satisfy their desires and satisfy their needs. The study used a questionnaire form as a tool to collect data, and it was applied to a sample of (300) respondents in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The study found important results, the most prominent of which is that the more ritual and utilitarian motives among the respondents, the higher their level of use of the radio station. The respondents for the Tarabiya radio station and the social content satisfaction achieved from this use, as well as it was proven that there are differences between the respondents in terms of the motives for the use and the satisfaction achieved. Utilitarian motives increase compared to ritual motives, and directive and social content satisfactions increase compared to the gratifications of semi-directive and semi-social means.
