How Islamic Preachers Use Social Media to Confront Intellectual Extremism

Abstract

Studies show that there is a mutual interaction between people and Social Media. Apparently, Social Media has been proven to be a tool reflecting users' needs and targets. So, if this tool is carefully used and properly controlled by the user, it contributes in building up societies. However, a dramatic devastation of society can occur if it's mal used or ignored.
This Paper focuses on the way the majority of Imams and Islamic preachers deal with Social Media. It spots the web sites they choose to access and why, the issues they tackle and how far they succeed in achieving their goals. The Paper also, highlights the frequency of accessing those websites to confront intellectual crimes.
My point of research is to show "How Islamic Preachers Use Social Media to Face Intellectual Extremism".
The Study Targets: evaluating Imams' level in using Social Media and following up with its updates, identifying religious controversies Imams face on Social Media, the reasons why they prefer using Social Media and the goals they achieved by using it. This is in addition to drawing attention to Imams' interactions with Islamic articles published on Social Media.
Recent surveys show that 91% of the total number of Imams use Social media on regular basis, 9% of them use it occasionally, where as 0% of Imams never use it.
