Abstract

The study aimed to assess the extent of the media’s commitment to social and security responsibility in guiding and educating the public about the dangers of terrorist groups and ideological extremism, identifying indirect forms of terrorist group propaganda through the media, and studying how terrorist groups use the Islamic religion as a cover to justify their crimes and promote them in the media. Determining the responsibility of the media in correcting the image of Islam as the religion of peace for all worlds and exposing the true face of terrorism. Finally, the study presented a comprehensive media strategy to combat terrorism and extremist ideology in a way that preserves security and achieves peaceful coexistence. The study sample consisted of 160 academic and professional experts in the field of media and security agencies. The results of the study indicated that the media has sometimes turned into a catalyst for terrorism and a tool to serve its demands through continuous coverage of its crimes, and most media outlets were quick to achieve a media scoop at the expense of accuracy, and terrorist groups used religious slogans to justify their crimes and promote them in the media, and armed groups used media coverage to reinforce their beliefs and pass Their demands, justify their motives, and recruit youth, misleading the security services.
