Abstract

The study aimed to identify the intensity and motives of the respondents' exposure to traditional and digital local media, and their attitudes towards it, in the face of extremist thought. It also sought to identify the degree of their dependence on those means in the face of extremist thought and the factors that push them to pursue issues of extremism in those means, and also to identify The contact person's interest in covering extremism news and topics.
The study relied on the two theories of dependence on the media and the theory of dialogue communication as a theoretical framework for it, and the sample of the field study consisted of 400 members of the Sinaitic audience, and a comprehensive inventory of the communicators in the traditional and digital local media was made, which reached 35 individuals.
The study found that the density of the respondents' listening to North Sinai Radio was weak, while the results indicated that the intensity of the respondents' use of Facebook pages was moderate and that the most prominent motives of the respondents' exposure to North Sinai Radio were due to the ease of exposure to it and getting used to hearing it, while the most prominent motives were in the news pages. The immediate effect of reporting the event, followed by its ease of use and exposure to it, and the results indicated that the level of reliance on North Sinai Radio in following up on extremism news and topics was weak, while the respondents ’reliance on Facebook pages in following up on extremism news and topics was moderate, The results also indicated that the public's attitudes towards the radio and news pages' treatment of the phenomenon of extremism were moderate and that the most prominent factors that push the respondents to follow up on the news and issues of extremism through North Sinai Radio and the news pages were obtaining information that would benefit me personally and my family members in avoiding the dangers of extremism.
For the contact person, the results showed the interest of North Sinai Radio and the news pages on Facebook in covering the news and topics of extremism.
