Abstract

Virtual reality technology is one of the applications of artificial intelligence, and the media of all kinds are trying to catch up with these applications to maintain their continuity among the audience, especially Journalism that integrates virtual reality technology in its images and videos to attract attention to it as a traditional means whose readership has declined.
This semi-experimental study aims to measure the impact of the use of virtual reality technology on the audience's perception of electronic news, and perception includes three variables: (attracting attention, the trend towards technology, and understanding), It also aims to monitor the relationship between visual acuity and the perception of electronic news and demographic features, and to come up with a set of proposals that help newspapers to employ virtual reality to ensure public awareness of news.
This study used the experiment and observation tool, relying on the experimental method.
The theories of this study were the media ecology and information processing theory. The researcher devised a model for information representation within the media environment.
The study sample consisted of (60 respondents) divided equally into two groups, one experimental and the other control, and the study reached a set of results, the most important of which are: “The respondents’ feeling that they are at the scene of the event” came in the first place, then the intense focus on the details of the video, As for virtual reality, the largest percentage shows its great value, then the real value, is in virtual reality.
