Abstract

The world is witnessing a real revolution in information and communication technology, especially related to the use of the Internet, which has become the basis for the development of modern societies. In view of this, various sectors resorted to integrating modern communication and information technologies into their development plans and programs, and this is a sense of the support provided by this technology, as it has become inherent to man in his various activities and aspects of his life.
Information disorder and the emergence of rumors has become a global phenomenon and crisis that many societies suffer from, especially in light of the availability, participatory, and rapid dissemination through digital social platforms, which are the result of the proliferation of modern means and technologies of communication, and have gone beyond spontaneous or limited practices to organized, systematic, and large-scale operations. Fake news spreads faster and more widely than real news. This raises questions, since even the dissemination of correct and true information finds many difficulties in eliminating false information, especially on digital social platforms.
Information disorder and spreading rumors is an old phenomenon that has historical roots even before the advent of the World Wide Web and digital social platforms. It is a phenomenon that is not limited to a specific society, and its manifestations and components differ from one country to another. Rumors and conflicting information have spread in digital social platforms at the level of all societies, whether they are developing. of or advanced.
The results indicated the ease of believing misleading and false information from the majority of users due to ignorance of the facts, the lack of control over the dissemination of false information, the absence of laws and rules regulating the publishing operations in these means, and the difficulty of the competent authorities controlling them. The results also indicated the existence of a group of false and misleading economic information published Intentionally on digital social platforms with the aim of misleading Egyptian public opinion about the economy, and weakening the relationship between the classes of Egyptian society and its individuals.
