impact of ethical standards of polls on public relations research function- a study within the framework of the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR) Charter for Ethics and Professional Practices

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of the ethical standards of public opinion polls on the practice of the research function of public relations. The study belongs to descriptive studies and grounds on the survey through a questionnaire applied to a sample of (60) public relations practitioners in Egyptian government agencies. The study concluded with some important results public relations practitioners in Egyptian government agencies are committed to the ethics standards of public opinion polls and professional practices of the World Association for Public Opinion Research for ethics and professional practices, and the ethics standards of public opinion polls affect the practice of public relations research function by 88.32%. The standards related to public opinion poll researchers positively affect the practice of the public relations research function, and the standards related to poll sponsors also have a positive impact on it, and the indicators of the positive impact of the standards related to the results and reports of public opinion polls on the practice of the public relations research function are high, and practitioners agreed on the positive impact of the standards related to interviews, and the existence of a positive, direct, statistically significant correlation between the extent of knowledge of the World Association for Public Opinion Research Charter and the degree of impact of the ethics standards of opinion polls on the practice of the public relations research function.
