Abstract

The study seeks to reveal the relationship between the coverage of al-Masri al-Youm website and El akhbar portal for family crimes and the feelings of fear among its audience and the behaviors resulting from this fear, through the application of the theory of building the agenda. The study used the content analysis tool through an analytical study of family crime news on both sites, which consisted of 187 news on the Egyptian website today and 233 news in El akhbar portal with a total of 420 news. It also used the electronic questionnaire tool, and the available sample of family crime news followers was available on the sites in question for 203 individuals. The study found similarities between the two sites in the most important topics were the killing of wives by husbands, focusing on the template of simple news and the objective image accompanying the news, highlighting the personality and negative features of the perpetrator, relying on brief registry coverage and the anti-crime trend, and news in Greater Cairo. and the rate of follow-up and degree of the public interest came from the average of family crimes, and the sample's interest in the news that occurs in Greater Cairo, in which the victim is the central figure, that the most common reason for pursuing these crimes is to take care of the dangers of crime, and the high degree of impact of the follow-up on the feelings of fear and behaviors resulting from it in the public.
