The Impact of Exposure to Electronic Journalism on parents’ Awareness of the Risks of Child Abuse “Study on the Influence of the Third Person”

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the effect of exposure to the content of child abuse
crimes in the electronic press on parents’ awareness of its risks, through a descriptive field study, based on the method of media survey, using a questionnaire form
where the researcher applied 300 items to a sample of parents in governorates (
Cairo, Minya, Mansoura). This is to prove the validity of the following hypothesis:
There is a statistically significant correlation between parents’ exposure to the
content of child abuse crimes in Egyptian electronic newspapers and their perception of its risks to them.
The most important findings of the study:
•There are statistically significant differences between the intensity of parents’ exposure to the content of child abuse crimes in Egyptian electronic newspapers, and
their perception of its risks to them,
• The absence of statistically significant differences between the level of trust and
credibility of parents with knowledge and follow-up of child abuse crimes through
Egyptian electronic newspapers.
• There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the respondents on the extent of the third person’s influence on the social distance of
other groups (relatives - friends - neighbors - work colleagues - Egyptians in general.
