Political Communication Studies in Asia and Europe: A Comparative View

Abstract


This study seeks to review political communication research in Asian and European countries, given that these two regions did not receive sufficient attention in Egyptian studies, which mostly focus on the American school, and the European school retreated somewhat, while Asian studies did not receive any Interest before that despite the presence of many rich studies in different Asian countries, which represent different schools such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and India, to find out the most important orientations and their intellectual and theoretical perspectives.
The study also provides a critical view of studies in both Asia and Europe, then it deals with the field of comparative political communication, with the opportunities it represents for future studies that will enrich the field, and the challenges it represents at the same time, and the study reviews comparative studies between European countries and each other, and comparative studies between Asian countries and each other.
The study depends in its approach on the method of second or secondary analysis. The number of studies that have been reviewed and their general outputs analyzed (subjects and research methods) has reached 70 studies representing Asian studies, and 50 studies representing European studies.
- The study concluded that the differences in the theoretical perspectives and the difference in the research and academic culture, in addition to the difference in the language represent basic obstacles to comparative research between European and Asian countries
