The role of specialized Digital Initiatives in purifying press content from fake news through social media platforms from the viewpoint of Egyptian journalists - a field study

Abstract

The study aimed to: Identify "the role of specialized digital Initiatives in purifying press content from fake news through social media platforms from the viewpoint of Egyptian journalists. The study belongs to the type of descriptive study. The study relied on the sample survey method, and used the questionnaire tool, the study was conducted on a random sample Strength (100 individuals) of Egyptian journalists practicing the profession of registered journalism. In the Press Syndicate, the results of the study showed: The results of the study revealed that there is a great agreement among journalists, the study sample, on the increasing spread of the phenomenon of fake news through social media platforms, with mathematical averages ranging between (2.87 - 2.42). Followed by the “Twitter” platform with a mean of (2.58), then the “Instagram” platform with a mean of (2.53), then the “YouTube” platform with a mean of (2.53), and the “WhatsApp” platform came in the last place with an average of (2.42). The results of the study hypothesis test resulted in a statistically significant correlation between the extent of reliance on specialized digital initiatives and the degree of spread of fake news through social media platforms.
