Abstract

The study aims to indicate the reasons for the exposure of academic youth to social media which discusses the issues of sustainable development and their effects on the realization of academic youth in the light of Vision 2030 on the cognitive, behavioral, and emotional levels.
The study sued the survey and the questionnaire through the application on a sample of academic youth which numbered nearly 400 persons.
The results of the study:
The average use of the sample of social media differs. The members of the sample have mentioned that " I use it more than one time a day " with a percentage of (37.8%) and " I use it one time a day " with a percentage of (29%). "I use it five times a week "with a percent of (19.3%).
The variety of the social media sites which the academic youth use: Facebook comes on the top of social media with a percentage of (91.3%). Then, Twitter in a percentage of (79.3%), After that comes what 'sup in a percentage of (73.5%). Finally, YouTube in a percentage of (65%).
The activities of the academic youth vary in the use of social media. On the top comes the admiration of a photo or a case with a percentage of (88.8%). Then, the comment of a percent of (88%). Then, they share with others a percentage of (62.8%). Then, the actual share of reality in a percent of (59.3%). Finally, silent reading has a percentage of (40.5%).
There is a relation between the dense use of social media in following sustainable development issues and the direction towards it.
There is a relation that is of statistical significance between the dense use of social media in following up on the issues of sustainable development and the degree of assimilation of these issues through social media.
