The impact of female university students’ exposure to female influencers on social media platforms on their perception of perceived social reality

Abstract

The Study Seeks To Determine The Effect Of Following Female Influencers Among Female University Students. The Study Uses A Purposive Sample Of 300 Female Students At Cairo And Suez Universities. Data Was Collected Using An Online Survey. Findings Show That Female Students Were Very Caring In Following Female Influencers' Accounts On Social Media Platforms Permanently. “Instagram” Topped The Platforms On Which Female Students Follow Female Influencers.
The Study Shows That The More Intense The Female Students' Exposure To Female Influencers' Accounts On Social Media Is, The More It Has The Potential To Influence Their Awareness Of The Perceived Social Reality Dimensions. The Benefit Dimension Topped The List Of The Three Dimensions. Female Students Have Positive Attitudes Toward Female Influencers As Friends And Role Models. The Most Remarkable Negative Effects Of Following Female Influencers Were Raising Ambitions Limits For Egyptian Female Students Unrealistically. Female Students Were Frustrated Because Of Comparing Their Lifestyle With The Influencers’ Luxurious Ones. As For The Positive Effects, Female Influencers Offer Female Students An Online Space For Social Interaction, Raising Social Awareness And Providing Social Experience.
