Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of interdisciplinary specializations in enhancing the professional performance of radio and television personnel within the rapidly evolving audiovisual media industry. The goal is to propose strategies for incorporating technical interdisciplinary studies into media education at Saudi universities. The research employed qualitative methods, including in-depth interviews and focus groups, to examine the benefits of integrating technical knowledge with media skills. The findings indicate a strong consensus on the importance of merging technical expertise with media skills to improve the quality of media content and better prepare students for the job market. Respondents also highlighted the necessity of aligning media education with practical realities and suggested the establishment of interdisciplinary specializations that include computer science, psychology, and sociology. The study underscores the challenge of updating curricula to keep pace with technological advancements and proposes that adopting interdisciplinary approaches can enhance graduates' skills and their ability to effectively engage with the public.
