Abstract

The study aimed to identify Egyptian Journalists' attitudes towards employing artificial intelligence techniques in digital news verification, and to attempt to reveal the most important of these techniques and the advantages achieved from their use, monitoring the most prominent obstacles that prevent its employment, and revealing the degree of interest of the respondents in following the developments of artificial intelligence techniques, and clarifying the practices necessary to employ these techniques in verifying digital news. The study sample was chosen intentionally from a group of Egyptian journalists in various media institutions who have experience in the field of digital media, whose number reached (70) individuals from the study community by following the snowball method, The researcher relied in her study on the descriptive approach, and she designed the study tool, which is a questionnaire form that included several measures that translated the objectives of the study. The study achieved several results, including:
The results showed positive attitudes among the research sample towards employing artificial intelligence in verifying digital news, The results also indicated that the advantages achieved from using these techniques were represented by their saving time, effort and money in the first place, followed by their ability to handle huge databases with ease and convenience in the second place, As for the most important techniques used by the respondents that help in verifying digital news, the use of Google tools was ranked first, Most of the respondents emphasized the need to qualify the human element to deal with these techniques. The results also showed that the most prominent obstacles that prevent the use of these techniques in verifying digital news were represented by the lack of awareness of these techniques and their importance, and some of them require subscription and training to understand how to deal with them.
