Youth exposure to Corona Virus rumors on social media and its relation with their anxiety levels-Survey Study

Abstract

The research aimed to measure the relationship between youth exposure to Corona Virus rumors on social media and their level of anxiety (high, moderate, and low), it is a descriptive study that was applied using the survey method on a random sample of Egyptian youth from age 18 to 45. The study concluded that (91%) of the sample follow Corona Virus news on social media especially on Facebook, while (62%) highly trust what is posted on Facebook, and (74%) exposed to different types of rumors concerning Corona Virus. Also, there is a correlation between exposing to Covid rumors and the level of anxiety, also there is a correlation between dependency on social media usage and level of anxiety, and there is also statistically significant differences in the level of anxiety and trusting social media. Finally, there is no evidence between how youth deal with rumors and their level of anxiety.
